This company is registered with the State of Indiana as a Not-For-Profit rural water utility, charged with supplying potable water to areas not provided by municipal services. In 1976, service was provided to 850 customers located in NW section of Vanderburgh County known as German Township, hence the name.   All water is purchased from the city of Evansville under a 50-year contract.  In 1993, a major extension was completed, greatly expanding company territory in the eastern part of Posey County from SR 62 to West Franklin on the Ohio River known as the Marrs Township extension. The company now has water lines from eastern Posey County to within one mile of the city of Mount Vernon Indiana and along Hwy 66 to within 2 miles of the town of New Harmony. The company now has more than 5,000 connections. Meter reading, billing and accounting are performed “in-house”. Except for major projects, all construction and maintenance are performed by the company personnel. Rules and rates are under the control of the I.U.R.C. (Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission). 
In its 40+ year history, the company has had just 1 general rate increase and has had limited tracking rates added to the original water rates due to rate increases from Evansville Water and Sewer Utility. An 8% rate reduction was granted to Marrs Township in 2004 and again in 2015 due to the early pay off (7 years) of the expansion utility bonds.
